Ayia Napa with Kids – Attractions Worth Knowing

By: Nofar Ronen

Ayia Napa is known as a party destination for young people, but since moving to Cyprus, we’ve discovered that it’s also a great place to visit with kids. There are plenty of attractions, everything is within walking distance or accessible by bus, there are excellent hotels, and the atmosphere is lively and fun.

The best time to visit Ayia Napa, in my opinion, is from mid-April (around Passover) until mid-October (end of the holiday season). During this period, all attractions are open, restaurants are operating, the streets are bustling, and the sea is warm for swimming. If you visit outside of this season, make sure to check in advance that the places you plan to visit are open or not operating on a limited schedule.

If you’re looking for a quieter destination with kids, I recommend checking out Protaras, a nearby and more relaxed resort town.

Overall, I recommend renting a car if you want to fully enjoy Ayia Napa and its surroundings. Driving in Cyprus is quite relaxed. I also wrote a guide with useful tips for renting a car in Cyprus.

Ayia Napa Amusement Park – Parko Paliatso

We’ve been to Parko Paliatso Amusement Park many times and enjoyed it.

  • Open daily from 6 PM to midnight during the tourist season.
  • In 2025, it will open at the end of March and remain open until the end of October.
  • Free entry, with the option to pay per ride or buy an unlimited ride pass.
  • Rides are suitable for kids aged 3 and up, with some for toddlers (2 years old) and even extreme rides for adults.

Next to the park, there’s free parking and a bus stop with lines 201 and 202 connecting from Ayia Napa

Cape Greco Nature Reserve

A breathtaking nature reserve with scenic trails, picnic tables, and stunning sea views. You’ll also find many party and tour yachts sailing in its crystal-clear turquoise waters.

Recommended Trails

  • Coastal Trail & Viewpoints – Easy walk along the cliffs with stunning sea views.
  • Love Bridge – A famous natural rock bridge, great for photos.
  • Sea Caves – Beautiful spot to admire or even swim into the caves.
  • Cape Greco Point – A panoramic viewpoint over the entire area.

Important Information

  • Additional Attractions – Picnic tables, Agioi Anargyroi Church, water sports, and snorkeling.
  • Not stroller-friendly – A baby carrier is recommended.
  • Best Time to Visit – Spring and fall offer the most comfortable weather. In summer, visit in the morning or evening to avoid the heat.

Ayia Napa Water Park – WaterWorld

One of three water parks in Cyprus, WaterWorld is fun for kids and adults.

  • Open from April to October, 10 AM – 5 PM (sometimes until 6 PM in peak summer).
  • Tickets are often available at a discount on the park’s official website.
  • Features slides for all ages, a wave pool, and play areas for toddlers.
  • Food & drink stalls are available (outside food not allowed).
  • Public transport: Take bus 102 from Ayia Napa or bus 711 from Larnaca.

The Yellow Submarine + Cruise to the Blue Lagoon

A super fun boat trip that lasts about 1.5 hours and departs from Ayia Napa’s harbor to the Blue Lagoon.

What to Expect

  • Underwater Show – Watch a diver feed the fish through large viewing windows.
  • Swimming Stop – At the Blue Lagoon, you can jump off the deck, slide into the water, or climb down a ladder for a swim.
  • Great for kids – My daughter loved the fish-feeding show at age 5.

Cruise Details

  • Three daily departures: 10:30 AM, 12:30 PM, 2:30 PM.
  • Price: €15 for adults & kids 12+, €10 for kids (under 12), free for kids under 2.
  • Snacks, ice cream, and beer are available on board.

Water Sports

For kids who love adventure and adrenaline, Ayia Napa’s water sports scene is perfect.

  • Nissi Beach – Jet skis, Flyboarding, and parasailing.
  • Makronissos Beach – Kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding for a calmer experience.

Best Family-Friendly Beaches in Ayia Napa

Ayia Napa is known for its stunning beaches, but not all are kid-friendly. Here are the best options for families:

  • Nissi Beach – Calm, shallow waters, close restaurants, and lots of water activities.
  • Makronissos Beach – Less crowded, golden sand, and great for light snorkeling.
  • Landa Beach – A small, quiet beach for those who prefer a relaxed atmosphere.

Useful Tips for Parents

  • Public Transport – Buses are convenient, but renting a car is easier with small kids.
  • Stroller or Baby Carrier? – Strollers work fine in town and on beaches, but a carrier is better for Cape Greco or hilly areas.
  • Weather – Summer gets very hot, so pack hats, sunscreen, and plan morning/evening activities.
